What You Should Know about All-Inclusive Destination Weddings

In 2016 we chose to get married at an all-inclusive resort in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. We brought along our Winnipeg Wedding Photographer and spent a fun filled week with all of our closest family and friends. If we had to do it all over again we wouldn’t have done it any other way. Here’s why:

Photography

Our photos mattered to us for obvious reasons. Although you don’t need a beautiful beach for amazing wedding photos, we knew we couldn’t go wrong. Having our Winnipeg Wedding Photographer there with us the whole week meant we also had the privilege of a Day After Session. We set aside another day on our trip that allowed us to take additional Wedding Photos at a more relaxed pace. We actually ended up liking our Day After photos more than the wedding photos only because we felt more at ease and like ourselves.

Price

After researching a ton of local venues and adding up our growing list of wedding expenses we decided to look into an all-inclusive destination option.  We were shocked and excited to find that a destination wedding was in fact only a third of the cost compared to having a wedding back home in Winnipeg. When booking with most travel agents they will offer you a dollar amount credit for every 10 people you book. We used our credit to bring our Winnipeg photographer along with us!

Guest List

This was a tough one for us.  We both have large families and our guest list exceeded 300 people.  We knew that some of our closest family members and friends would not be able to make the destination trip so we decided to have an engagement party right here in Winnipeg where everyone could attend and celebrate with us.  This is a good way to celebrate with those who cannot make the actual wedding day.

Booking it

Use a travel agent.  We used CAA. They will tell you the best wedding resorts to choose from and offer your group a great wedding rate as long as you have a minimum of ten people traveling together.  Perks for the married couple also include first class flights, special care of your dress/suit on the plane and often the resort will include something complimentary as well. When booking with most travel agents they will offer you a dollar amount credit for every 10 people you book. We used our credit to bring our Winnipeg photographer along with us!

Stress Free

All-Inclusive resorts will come with their very own wedding planner. This means they will take care of everything for you! For us, we simply chose a package on our resort’s wedding website and it included everything from the meal, decor, ceremony and reception location and even floral bouquets.  Easy peasy.
