Danica & Joe Love Story - Colmar, France

In late spring, we had the pleasure of meeting Danica and Joe in the picturesque town of Colmar, France. As a Winnipeg wedding photographer, traveling to capture love stories is always a dream, and Colmar, with its fairytale-like charm, provided the perfect setting for an unforgettable destination wedding elopement shoot.

Danica and Joe were in the midst of a long-distance relationship, enjoying a brief but sweet reunion in this enchanting town. Colmar, with its cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, and vibrant flowers spilling out of window boxes, felt like something straight out of Beauty and the Beast. The town’s medieval architecture and quaint canals provided a stunning backdrop for a couple whose love story was just as magical.

We initially met them during a wedding photography workshop we were attending in France, and the connection was instant. Their chemistry was undeniable, and their love for each other shone through in every moment. When they expressed an interest in having us capture their time together in Colmar, we couldn’t resist the opportunity.

We began our session in the heart of Colmar, wandering through the town’s narrow streets, where every corner offered something new and beautiful to explore. The vibrant colors of the buildings and the whimsical, almost storybook atmosphere of the town set the stage for some truly creative and unique shots. Danica and Joe’s natural ease with each other made our job easy, and we were able to capture the playful, romantic moments that unfolded as they explored the town.

As we strolled along the canals, we found ourselves in Petite Venise, a particularly charming part of Colmar known for its colorful houses and serene waterways. The soft light filtering through the trees and reflecting off the water added a touch of magic to the photos. The couple’s laughter and joy were contagious, and we were able to capture some beautiful candid moments that perfectly encapsulated their love.

One of the highlights of the session was photographing Danica and Joe in front of the iconic Maison des Têtes, a historic building adorned with over 100 carved faces. The building’s unique architecture and the couple’s joyous expressions made for some truly striking images. We also found some quieter, more intimate spots where they could share a moment together, away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

As the sun began to set, we wrapped up our session, capturing a few final shots as the golden light bathed Colmar in a warm, romantic glow. Danica and Joe’s love story, set against the backdrop of this fairytale town, was a joy to document, and we felt incredibly lucky to have been part of it.
