Add A Wedding

Highlight Video

It’s important to understand the difference between a highlight video and a full wedding video. A highlight video is a short and sweet video that captures the feel of your wedding day but doesn’t necessarily include your entire ceremony or all of the speeches from your reception. If it is important to you to have a full wedding video you should contact a dedicated wedding videographer as we are Hybrid Photographers that are also focused on still photographs.

That being said we still want to capture the most memorable moments of your wedding day. Our goal is to create a short and emotional recap of your special day, allowing you to relive the most significant moments, such as the ceremony, speeches, first dance, and other key moments. Highlight videos typically range from 4-10 minutes in length.

What Is Hybrid Photography?

Hybrid Photography refers to a photographer shooting still images and video at the same time. The cameras we use allow us to switch between photo and video efficiently so we are both capturing video clips throughout the day while prioritizing still photography.

Testimonials

Chloe & Kevin

Joel and Cheryl photographed our engagement photos and most recently our Wedding Day Photos. They were a pleasure to interact with leading up to our wedding and were professionals on the actual day. They were able to maneuver people around quickly and efficiently in order to stick with a hectic schedule while getting all of their shots.
Once the wedding was over, we were amazed at the sneak peaks we received so quickly.

Lauren & Adrian

Absolutely incredible experience working with Black & Gold for our wedding. We worked with Joel and it was obvious from the beginning that he was such a pro. Looking through the photos, we are seeing moments that we completely forgot about, and he didn't miss a single thing. These are photos we will cherish forever.

Shari & Kevin

Definitely would recommend these photographers, especially if you’re someone who is a bit awkward in front of the camera. They are prompt with responses, extremely talented, and are great at making you feel comfortable behind the lens. They were able to capture moments from my wedding day and make them look beautiful. Will definitely be using them for future photoshoots!

Frequently Asked

Questions

What if I need less than 8 hours? Unfortunately we don’t take any weddings less than 8 hours unless it’s booked within 6 months. We only have so many dates in a year and those are reserved for our couples with full day weddings.

We have two getting ready locations in the morning, can one of you each be at a location? Depending how far apart your locations are we can often accommodate this. We’ll help you plan a photo timeline closer to your wedding date.

How much time do we need for photos on our Wedding Day? We ask for 2 hours for formal photos with you and your wedding parties but we are shooting everything that happens on your wedding day from morning to night. Click here for some examples of common wedding schedules.

Where should we do our wedding photos? If possible, it’s usually best to do your photos at or near your wedding venue to avoid unnecessary travel on your day but Here are a few popular wedding photo locations in Winnipeg.

What happens if one of you is sick or injured? If an unforeseen circumstance were to happen we have a great community of professional Winnipeg Wedding Photographers that are able to second shoot or take our place in a worst case scenario and if we feel it’s necessary.

What if it rains on my Wedding day? An overcast sky is in fact the ideal lighting for photos on a wedding day. Our camera gear is weather resistant and in the past we’ve worked through the rain and snow. Sometimes we’ll bring along umbrellas for you and your bridal party. As professionals we know how to deal with “tricky” situations and still provide you with the best results. Day after sessions can be arranged if you or we feel it’s necessary.

Can we provide you with a shot list on our Wedding day? We ask our couples to trust our creative process on your wedding day. After 11+ years of doing this we often know more than the couple what kinds of photos are on that list ;) Lighting, location and time are all factors when achieving specific photos.

Do we feed you two at dinner? After several fast paced hours of working we appreciate a meal to keep our energy up. We always have our cameras on hand during our dinner for speeches or anything else that may happen.

How long does it take to get our photos back? Up to 12 weeks for photo and up to 4 months for video. Depending on the time of year we may be able to deliver them much sooner. We always like to show a few sneak peeks on our social media pages a few days after your wedding.

Can we hire you for Video only? Unfortunately not at this time. We prioritize photography and only offer the Highlight Video option to our photography couples.

How do we book you? We’ll have you review and sign our Wedding photography contract. After that we require a $1000 non-refundable deposit to secure your wedding date.
