Ashley & Tim Love Story - Tunnel Island, Kenora

Ashley and Tim’s Love Story session in Kenora is one of our all-time favorite winter shoots. As a Winnipeg wedding photographer, capturing the unique beauty of each couple’s relationship against the backdrop of stunning locations is what we live for, and this session did not disappoint.

We began the day in the heart of Kenora, wandering around Main Street. The town was bustling with winter charm, from the central skating rink to the scenic riverfront. Ashley and Tim were up for anything, letting us do what we do best: finding the light, playing with shapes, and getting creative. Their easygoing nature and love for each other made it effortless to capture those genuine, candid moments that tell their story.

After exploring Main Street, we headed just outside town to one of our favorite photo spots in the Lake of the Woods area—Tunnel Island. This location is a hidden gem, nestled just before the town of Kenora, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and rugged charm. The snow-covered trail provided a serene path through the towering pine trees, and the icy river views added a touch of winter magic to the photos.

Tunnel Island also offers some incredible spots for more creative shots, like the graffiti-covered walls under the bridge. Ashley and Tim embraced the vibrant, urban backdrop, and the contrast between the colorful graffiti and the pristine snow made for some truly dynamic photos. Their playful energy was infectious, and it wasn’t long before we had them popping a bottle of champagne—after shaking it up, of course! The spray of champagne, coupled with their laughter and joy, made for some of the most fun and memorable shots of the day.

As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting a warm, golden light over the snow, we captured a few final moments of Ashley and Tim together. The love and connection between them were evident in every shot, and the winter landscape of Tunnel Island only enhanced the romantic atmosphere.

This session was a perfect example of why we love photographing couples in unique locations like Kenora. The combination of Ashley and Tim’s chemistry, the beautiful winter scenery, and the creative possibilities of Tunnel Island made for a session we’ll always remember. We’re so grateful to have been part of their love story and can’t wait to capture more moments like these in the future.
